  • September Private View

    September 2011

While working for Debut Contemporary gallery in Notting Hill. I helped to organise a blowout private view featuring works of the new artists. As it was September, and we all know september is the fashion month, I decided on a ‘wearable art’ theme. With this, I asked a friend a favour – DJ Erol Sabadosh to play some tunes for the night as he did with the previous month’s private view pictured here:

Amy Winehouse sculpture by Sarah Gwyer

We had none other than the gorgeous model BB Kaye as a special guest!

For the ‘wearable art’ theme, I called upon the help of the amazingly talented and most original designer James Hock who dressed me up in one of his first creations – the ‘Alternative Black Dress’.  It meant I had to stay immobile for most of the night and had a LOT of people inappropriately touching my dress until I had to resort to batting them away with the guest list clipboard. I mean, really.

The beautiful Laura Cherry and Treacle Holasz performed from the March Performance Group and wore Ziad Ghanem Couture in the downstairs gallery. Overall, a great night and the gallery was packed out with queue’s out the door!

  • Pop Ate My Heart

    Lady GaGa @ Brixton Academy
    14 July 2009

My blood turned to glitter. Alexander McQueen was the creator of the wonderful costumes GaGa wore and he was apparently there too but unfortunately i didn’t spot him 😦
And I know I’ve already worn it once but I couldn’t go to see Her Royal Discostick without wearing my fabulous DiscoBra! Here am I after the gig with Scarlett Etienne sporting McQueen (what else?) and the fabulous stylist Peter Breen.
Check out my video of GaGa playing acoustic Pokerface –
  • There’s A Star Man Waiting In The Sky..

    ArtMachine/Bowie with House of Blueeyes

Resistance Gallery, Bethnal Green 30th May 2009

Johnny Blueeyes is a wonderful man. Full of love and wisdom and has great style to boot (Have you seen the vintage Biba shoes?!). So to celebrate his recent success (Kate Moss on his first catwalk collection and all that..) Mr.Blueeyes threw an entertainment bash at the Resistance Gallery with a David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust theme.

It was fun and I met some amazing people including Ram Shergill (Editor in chief of Drama Magazine http://www.drama-magazine.com, which led me to do work experience as Creative director’s assistant & Styling assistant there which was AMAZING!), the Lovely Theo angel and of course Scarlett Etienne who is a rock star in her own right!
  • Fresh Talent

Central St.Martins Graphics & Illustration Exhibition Private View

Truman Brewery, Brick Lane May 28th 2009

    This. Was. Amazing.
No other words to describe it really, the crazy and original ideas that go through these students heads is just inspirational.
I primarily went to see a friend of mine’s work- the amazingly talented and somewhat elusive Mike Kosmicki (See Above http://www.studio-subsist.com) his Graphics work is so professional, not surprising as he’s interned at Tank Magazine! I remember looking through it at RD Franks every month just to see his name in print!
I left that Exhibition feeling the creative urge!
  • You’re Noone ’till Your In The BurnBook

So if your a London fashionite you should already know about Soho’s most famous dragqueens, Munroe Bergdorf & Shiva Queen, then you also should know about BurnBook the new clubnight dedicated to those who say “There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.”- Oscar Wilde. Hosted by none other than the Queens themselves.

DJ’s featured Erol Sabadosh, Joshyou Are & Karaoke from the amazingly talented Matt Kane & Marcos Brito.

  • The First Streetfest 2009!

    (From May 2009)
“Building A Community Of Collective Creativity”
My friend and I decided to check out an event I’d seen advertised named Street Fest, it featured a large skate ramp in a warehouse off Old Street with artists such as Sichi, Andy Seize, Hicks,Miss Led and Drunkpark, live DJ’s with yummy international food stalls surrounding it.

I got a bit distracted at first from the skateboarders (..stunts) but then walk to the back and out come these artists drawing away. Amazing pieces of work, they also had timed ‘paint off’ against each other. Such a good little fest, they showed films in the back rooms by up and coming film makers, skateboard competitions and fashion shows. Watch out for the next one next year!
